Live Sync

Live Sync lets you continuously upload results on race day. It must be run on a machine that manages the results or has access to them over the network.

Currently, the following import configurations can be synchronized live:

  • Excel
  • Competition software (German: “Wettkampfprogramm”)

You can start Live Sync from the admin area in your browser. Open the second tab of the import configuration (EventsEventImportImport configSyncer).

Syncer tab in paused state

Click Choose file and start sync and select a local file that should be published. The first time you do this, the browser may ask for permission to access your local file system.

The selected file is checked for changes every second.1 If changes are found they are published automatically and appear for users within seconds. After every publish, file changes are logged on the Syncer tab. Errors appear there as well. If Live Sync fails, please attach the logs when contacting the developer.

Syncer tab in running state

Live Sync stops when you close the admin tab or navigate away. To change the settings of the current import configuration, you have to stop Live Sync first. You can use multiple browser tabs in order to edit a different event or start another Live Sync.

Confirm changes

The option Require approval before updating (enabled by default) prevents Live Sync from publishing changes automatically. Instead, changes are shown in a table below the logs and must be approved one by one.

Possible error sources

  • Live Sync was stopped because the browser or tab was closed
  • If the tab or browser runs in the background for too long, Live Sync may be paused or stopped by the browser.
  • Multiple tabs updating the same import configuration may interfere with each other and cause unexpected behavior.

Browser requirements

The technology used for Live Sync is not supported in all browsers. Before race day, make sure a compatible browser is installed:
